Reuse, reduce, recyle!

Hi everyone so I thought I'd do another outfit blog post. Now this was actually a previous outfit - taken the same day as my first outfit post. But I wanted to put this up because of the back story - this is actually a sneek peak of an upcoming lookbook. Unfortunately I have been blessed with a very tempermental Windows Movie Maker which freezes everytime I've tried to edit this lookbook. I'm not sure if it's the files because I tried to edit another video and it worked fine. Anyways, I've taken a break from it because it's been frustrating me and taking up too much time.

So here's a shot of one of the outfits for as an apology. I was hoping to actually put this up when I finished editing the lookbook, but patience is a virtue I'm afraid.

ANYWAYS, so in this look I'm featuring the same shirt as my first Outfit post, just to show how versatile it is. I love the monochromatic look as most of you should be aware already, and grey has never done me wrong. It's such a neutral basic colour that you can absolutely add to. A lovely bright pink lipstick would work wonderfully here or replace the grey bag with a nice bright clutch and you're great. However I also dont mind just keeping it quite muted in colour given the bold statement shorts I'm wearing.

Well, I'm sure you just want to skip to the photos... so here they are:

So I'm back... mixing prints.

Well then, let's get down to business. I went to the movies and this was what I wore. I cant get enough of these corduroy dark burgundy high waisted shorts from www.newlook.com. And what suprised me was that it was a total impulse buy as I happened to be checking out the "Teen" section on the website. I'm only 152cm (read: short) and I normally fit kid's clothings... so I thought why not? And surprise surprise, these shorts fit me quite perfectly. I do have bigger hips than the average 12year olds (according to the tag) but hey, once they're over my hips the waist fits amazingly.

So, "What are these shorts you speak of?", you may ask?

Chiffon Leopard print top - Flee Market
Burgundy Corduroy shorts - New Look (www.newlook.com)
Oversized Cardigan - Valleygirl

So I would definately recommend hitting up newlook which surprisingly according to many UK bloggers/vloggers isnt that great. Maybe not, but sometimes I find an odd gem here and there not readily available in australia. And I believe that if you spend over 55GBP there's free international shipping! (Which is usually 9 GBP to Australia). And the delivery time is quite fantastic - normally gets to me within 2 weeks!

To be honest, I've just had a look at in now and I've got some items in my shopping cart. Dont know if I'll go ahead though, because I did just recently make an online purchase from cotton on... hmm....

Anyways, that is all. Please comment and leave me feed back on location - unfortunately at night time I've had to make do with shooting in my room. I hope it isnt too distracting, but if it is please do let me know! Constructive criticism is MUCH appreciated.

With all of that aside, let me bring you something more serious and a MUST WATCH:

Please spread the word about KONY 2012 because I for one will admit that I had NO IDEA about WHO he was.
Though I knew about Uganda and the rebels, KONY 2012 will hopefully bring worldwide attention to this man and his eventual capture.
Please watch the video even if it's the only productive thing you do today!

Well that's it from me, Please take care and SPREAD THE WORD!
KONY 2012!

Baked goodies!!

So here's something a little different...It's not beauty OR fashion, but I thought I'd share some delicious goodies that my roomie made for me today! One's a pavlova (the most amazing desert everrr) and some lime and coconut sugar cookies :D Needless to say, they were absolutely DELICIOUS!

And that's all. I might do another post AFTER I finish this delicious pavlova... hehe

Recipe For the Pavlova Roulade:
Ingredients:
4 Coles Brand Free Range Egg Whites
1 cup Caster Sugar
2 tsp Cornflour, sifted
1 tsp White Vinegar
1 tbsp Icing Sugar, sifted, plus extra for dusting
250 g Mascarpone
1/4 cup Coles Brand Double Cream
2 Peaches, peeled, stones removed, chopped
125 g punnet Raspberries
1/2 cup Coles Honey Roasted Macadamias, chopped
Mint Leaves, to serve (optional)

Method:
1. Preheat oven to 180°C or 160°C fan. Grease a 32cm x 26cm Swiss roll pan. Line base and sides with baking paper, ensuring paper overhangs 5cm above rim of long sides of pan.

2. Using an electric mixer, beat egg whites until firm peaks form. Gradually add caster sugar, beating constantly until thick and glossy. Fold through cornflour and vinegar, until just combined. Spread meringue evenly in prepared pan.

3. Bake for 10 mins, or until just firm. Line a clean tea towel with a piece of baking paper. Sift over extra icing sugar. Invert meringue onto paper, peel away baking paper from meringue and set aside to cool completely.

4. Place mascarpone, cream and icing sugar in a bowl and stir until smooth. Spread over meringue, leaving a 1 cm border around edge. Top with peach and raspberries. Using baking paper as a guide, and starting from short side, roll meringue to form a log. Wrap baking paper and tea towel around roulade and refrigerate for 1 hr.

5. Transfer roulade to a platter and top with macadamias and mint, if using.

WELCOME TO MY NEW BLOG!

So, I guess we'll just have to see how this goes. Haha. I remember having a livejournal way back when, and I was quite religious. Then again, livejournal back then was just that - a journal. haha. But now new technology requires that we post pictures and good quality ones at that!

Anyways, I've always loved typing and just "blogging" but only once every so often. And I decided to create one now because hey, I have a week off University and I have time. So what better time than now? Also, it'll be good when Uni starts getting hectic and I dont have time to film... I can always blog! :D

So, what shall my first post be about then? Maybe an outfit post? I was actually filming some outfits the other day for a lookbook video in the near future! However it stopped short because my roomie came in and almost caught me!

Meet the "Cityscape Colorblock Blouse" from Sugarlips Apparel in XS $77
http://www.sugarlipsapparel.com/cityscape-colorblock-blouse.html

I quite like this shirt because of the neutral feel to it which I'm absolutely into at the moment. There's nothing like softness of nudes, greys and pastel pinks. This also sets the scene for star pieces such as a pop of colour or bold prints. Here's how I chose to style this particular piece...
